Who doesn’t love Legos? Psychopaths and squares, that’s who. Find a Lego build that you and your long distance partner both find appealing and assemble it together over a video call. You can both purchase the same set and build it together, at the same time help the other person out, and just have a good time building the same thing.
You could turn it into a race if you want to, but I prefer to just have a relaxed time putting together some Legos with my girl. Choose a Lego build that you both agree on so that it’s fun for both of you. If you really want to put together Hogwarts but your partner doesn’t know the difference between a Hippogriff and a Death Eater then please don’t try to coerce them into building it. Maybe you’re both diehard fans of Stars Wars and in that case you could both build the Millennium Falcon or the Death Star, for example.
If you’re both strapped for cash (aka poor), because those dang Legos ain’t cheap, you could replace then with a jigsaw puzzle; or even Minecraft. My girlfriend just came up with the jigsaw puzzle idea right next to me, because Legos sometimes cost an arm and a leg, unless you buy smaller sets. I recall getting a little Kuromi Lego set for my girlfriend for Christmas from AliExpress for $5 which is an amazing price and the Lego set had something like 100+ pieces (it’s quite intricate). You could do that, but you just have to wait a couple weeks for it to arrive.
Minecraft is honestly a whole date idea in and of itself, my girlfriend and I have spent countless hours mining and farming away in the relaxing Minecraft universe. You can build something huge together as a team, and I’d recommend playing in survival mode and gathering all of your resources from scratch because that’s the real and only way to play Minecraft.
Pizza & Movie Night
Y’all could throw down a few bucks and each order a pizza, pick a movie to stream, and pig out together. If you don’t want to order a pizza then you might opt for a frozen Walmart pizza or even make one from scratch, it’s up to you. Please don’t do what I do and have half the pizza gone before you even make it back to your desk or couch with it. Do your best to save it for when the movie starts and even better if y’all can start eating it at the same time to add to the date experience. I personally prefer to eat Dominos pizza because it’s the best, and dipping the flavorful Dominos crust into their garlic dipping sauce is heaven. Dominos usually has a good deal going on as well which is great for those on a budget.
Choose a movie that y’all both agree on and then watch it together on something like Discord. There are ways to find movies for free, once you find a place to stream it then have one of you, preferably the person with the best internet connection, stream it for the both of you. This is probably my favorite one out of these long distance relationship date ideas because yummy pizza and sitting back and enjoying a movie with mah gurl.
Cooking a Meal With Webcam and Eating Together
If you live alone you can do this one naked if you want; you have my permission. Bring your webcams to the kitchen and cook something together as you banter over who can chop an onion better. You could do this Hell’s Kitchen style and cook the same meal with a thirty minute timer and compare them at the end, even taking it as far to take pics of them and get your online (or real life) friends to judge them for you.
This cooking activity date idea is as fun as you two decide to make it, some of these ideas require you to put in a bit of effort, so if you’re a lazy person who doesn’t care much for the relationship you might find them difficult. But good on you for searching up long distance relationship date ideas and trying to put in the work for your relationship!
I feel like baking is the most enjoyable form of cooking for this long distance relationship date ideas activity. My girlfriend and I absolutely love baking together, and now that we’re in person we do it together all of the time but we would’ve definitely had loved to do it over video call if it was something that we thought of at the time. Try baking my favorite food cheesecake, possibly? Or maybe you fancy a red velvet cake or even a key lime pie?
Co-op Video Game Campaign (Drinking Game Optional)
I had to squeeze in a way somehow to tell you to play the Halo 3 campaign onto this list of long distance relationship date ideas. It’s nostalgic and mind boggling levels of fun for me, but it may not be for you and that’s okay… I guess. You can find a different video game campaign or co-op adventure to play with your long distance relationship partner.
I’m specifically recommending that y’all play a shooter style video game campaign just because those are my favorite games to play with someone but honestly, just choose whatever game you prefer for today’s long distance relationship date ideas.
I have a few video game recommendations if you need help coming up with some ideas. My top recommendation (besides the Halo 3 campaign) for long distance couples to play is It Takes Two, which I talked about a bit on my older post of things to do in a long distance relationship. I actually just finished playing Overcooked 2 with my girlfriend and it was quite fun and I’d definitely recommend it. I would also recommend Minecraft because there’s so much freedom and it’s a really fun way to bond with your partner.
The drinking game idea is just an extra optional aspect to this date if you’re legal. If you drink more than you should and/or drink to cope with mental health issues then don’t partake in drinking games. Soon enough you’ll be drinking every day and I know how bad that gets. But it’s pretty easy to incorporate drinking games into video games; you can do something like whoever kills more grunts this round doesn’t have to take a drink, and stuff like that.
Take a Walk Sharing Your Live Location
This is a fun little idea that both of you can do if you’re comfortable sharing your location with one another. Get an app like Life360 and each of you begin to take a walk while facetiming. You then can tell your partner which turns to make using the map, this way you can explore new places together, and something possibly out of your comfort zone.
You could even both download Pokémon Go if you don’t already have it and play it together on your little outdoor walking adventure. Take it step further than that and turn it into a real life RPG (role playing game). For example, you see a building on your Life360 app. and give your partner a quest to knock once on the door. You could even do all of this while playing the role of a character that you both made up for yourselves.
